a day in the life

okay…so life is sort of crazy around here. here’s how the weekend went. headed to the airport to pickup our adopted brazilian brothers, Ze and Paulo who are visiting for a week with their american family…namely my mom & dad. the both were students in the rotary youth exchange. ze was here in ’79 and paulo was here in ’94. took them to the family homestead near cedar point on the north coast. spent some time catching up since it had been more than 11 years since we’ve seen each other. not much has changed. some hair…some weight, but life still is good and the friendships deep. then it was back to the family homestead to get some things ready and then head over to the camp for the emmaus women’s walk that rose was serving on team for. hung around there until later…headed back home, but before i left i picked up rose’s suv to get gas for her. went home…surfed and wrote some and then headed to bed. got up at 0600 again…got gas…headed to the camp and then to ltown to get some work done before the services started. of course there was plenty things that were amiss with the technology so had to tweak, plug in and get things in an orderly fashion. way to messy for some, but we’re getting there. headed north to pick up the jedster and sarai and then off to the lake for the first of two celebrations today. the first was the larger family beyond our biological with ze & paulo. the celebration included a two hour webcam skype hookup with the boyz family in brazil. very cool this technology. lots of great laughs and fun moments. hung around for a few more hours and then headed back south for the second celebration which was the baptism of more than a 100 folks into the life of our spiritual home. amazing stuff. great stories…a packed out crowd and just very good things.

this new environ is trying

well…trying to get a handle on how this wordpress is to work. i guess in one sense its just the nature of living in a web 2.0 world. i’m trying to migrate a couple different things to it and well…the learning curve is a little steeper than i’d like. but i’ll get there. it was another good week. lots accomplished, but even more left to do. there was some really good news in one area and i hope to report on it in a larger way. there other things afoot that are disconcerting, but those will resolve themselves soon enoough.

one thing is not being able to easily put up pictures. i did find a cool plugin that allows me to post my picasa albums. and i’m sure there is an easier way, but i’ve not learned it yet. i will say this tool is more powerful than my old sites and the cool thing is i’ve got my own domain!

not sure what these next few weeks will bring. much work lies ahead.

crazy day

the best part of the day was the end. grabbed rose and made a dash to mfd to pick up a new light for the downstairs pantry and a stop by panera for some fresh bagels and then off to cold stone for some creamy cold delight. the day was filled with a lot of little things. em and i even chased after the cold front that went through. as one point there were three active tornado cells floating around this next of the woods. craziness. had several good conversations today with old friends. i almost forgot about the really strange thing that happened yesterday. and truthfully i’ve not got a clue what it means. i stopped by a local coffee bar near where i worked some five years ago. while waiting for the across the room behind me on a bookcase. i recognized the title. so i walked over and picked it up. it was still in the wrapper. the strange thing happened when i turned it over and saw that it was address to me! what’s up with that? once i cleared my head…i asked my friend where it came from…he wasn’t sure…it just showed up. well…it was just too strange.

another turn in the journey

okay…so i’m to take things in a new direction. and with that comes a new presence. not sure what to do about the old one, but off we go. today has been tiring. much to be done.
