a crazy day…

finally winding up the day. been a crazy one. spent the morning working on getting some paper work caught up. then off to lunch with other pastors from around town to talk about the launch of our third campus. the discussion was great. all very supportive and encouraging. many good questions and i think an even larger vision may be developing to impact the community for the Kingdom. there are some 40,000 plus unchurched folks in our county…we’re figuring about 16,000 in the city alone. more than enough to draw from for a new and interesting effort. it was fun to connect with other pastors who’ve i’ve known for along time and to now be part of a new effort. heard many encouraging words. somewhere in the midst of the afternoon i got to the outpost just in time to have tony ring my cell to find out if i was jumping in on the WATGP. a great conversation ensued from that and you can have a listen later this week when it goes live. then i worked with my right hand on the youthscape build, jim and came up with plans for the next couple of days. i think we may hit the deadline of 16 march. fun stuff…almost as fun as the ride home….DSCN1641.jpgpouring cats and dogs and the trees were just filled with ice even had to detour twice around them. and when i got home and the polls had closed and a great american stood to the stage and shared his story…huckabee quoted a letter from a lt. col. travis…the words were louder than anything i’ve heard in recent days…

I am determined to sustain myself as long as possible & die like a soldier who never forgets what is due to his own honor & that of his country — Victory or Death

wonder what tomorrow will bring?

back home

nymc1.jpg nymc2.jpg it wasn’t even 24 hrs. but i’m back home. crazy road trips. but it was good to connect. got a chance to meet some new friends of sorts at the breakout session this morning. sue mallory and chris hardy. sat through an excellent discussion of developing high performance ministry teams. i had read several of sue’s books in seminary and it was good to hear her heart and passion for taking it up a notch. the larger group session was very good too. we walked through the theme of “climb”. an edgy time of reflection was offered after hearing craig’s story. the reflection was based on our on woundings and healings.

i was blessed to reconnect with ben a fellow pdym networking guy. we had met at the gathering this past fall. we ended up having lunch together. we went back to the hall and helped do some load out stuff. there were these crazy stuffed chairs and they were just too much fun. good thing was that they sold like 40 of these guys. so we only had to move 60 of them.  and of course the loading dock was all the way on the other side of the building.  they remind of that old 50s cult classic….the blob.  i thought about bring one home, but it wouldn’t have fit in the car. the are incredibly soft. nymc4.jpgnymc3.jpg

waffled

so i made it to cincy around midnite. got connected with jim clark and his right hand jeff…or it may be the other way around. jeff is a volunteer @ jim’s outpost. jeff has been a volunteer longer than jim’s been in vocational ministry. both have great hearts and i was blessed to share a midnite snack (actually a full breakfast..burp!) @ a waffle house accross the river in covington. i met jim last fall at the pdym gathering @ saddleback. we’ve done a couple of podcasts together for our pal tony. it was great to talk and share stories. i couldn’t help but notice that the whole time we were at waffle house everyone…staff and guests were text messaging the whole time. interesting how that medium connects everyone. need to think that through for ministry purposes. interesting stuff.   don’t forget i’ve still got a freebie to give away…send that picture of josh, doug or anyone else on the pdym staff.

so i’m stuck up north…but you could benefit…

today is day three of the nymc nymc.jpg in beautiful cincy. given my exploits i just can’t get out of town til late sunday. and the biggest bummer is not hangin’ with the good hearted folks like josh and doug & company and a whole bunch of folks who are part of the pdym network. that being said, josh let me in on the fun to giveaway a digital download version of icredible.jpgIncredible! from Simply Youth Ministry. its a three week series looking at the miracles of Jesus.

  • Intro plus Turning Water Into Wine
  • Healing A Paralyzed Man
  • Healing A Blind Man

so the winner will be the third person who posts a link to a picture of the one and only josh or one of his compatriots like doug, andy, neely….in my comment section. and if you aren’t in cincy…at least tell me what you wish you were doing. i know you’re out there because the stats meter is going crazy this week. dang i wish life weren’t so buzy. blessings!

roadtrip…

nymc.jpgif all goes well i’ll be rolling into cincy just in time for dinner on sat.  what looked like a nice weekend away turned into best laid plans gone awry only because there’s so much going on.  got a sectional game with the jedster friday nite and then the girls of grace simulcast.  interesting because one of the books i’m reading …emotionally healthy spiriutality talks about the gift of slowing down.  interesting idea and i’m hoping to slow down with the good hearted folks from group and pdym.  can’t tell you how much doug and josh and the rest of the team there have spoken encouragement into my journey.  all very good stuff.
