day one – purpose driven summit

been a very long, but good day. never before have i been present with so many focused pastors of the Church. more than 35 of the best pastors in america have join in a common conversation with rick warren @ saddleback church. this is a great moment in the Church. rick has invited those and the rest of us here to participate in a larger conversation about how to do this faith journey better.

for most of today i had the pleasure to meet and hear some of those 3″5. I think we grabbed some 13 different interviews talking about the “how” of this thing called ministry. honest, real and direct is the least i can say about what i heard. all of this is because rick warren has turned his efforts towards further developing the pastors of our Lord’s Church. at a time when he could simply enjoy the fruits of his labor he’s taking it to a whole nother level. he can’t help it. its his character. even today when he surprised us in the ipodcast trailer with his presence we got a sense of his humor and an even greater sense of physical strength. several of us got the biggest impression literally when rick gave us each a huge bear hug, i’ve posted a few utterz and twitters. watch this space again on wed and thurs as the conversation continues. and you can go here to watch it live.

i’ve personally appreciated getting to know the persons behind the names…guys i’ve read and been challenged by. these guys are stepping it up larger and helping take this message way beyond the walls of a church in so cal. important stuff. if you don’t know about these guys you need to…drop by their sites and give em some love! Tony Morgan, Carlos Whittaker, DJ Chuang and Josh Griffin. but especially give my teacher and tech mentor, tony steward some affection too. i’m grateful he’s allowed me into a very interesting journey. (btw tony steward, me and the others from the who are these guys podcast should be back next week.) off to bed. its 1:32 a.m. in ohio…nite
