happy thanksgivukkah

menukeyEarlier this week, we visited the nursing homes for the weekly “church service”.  I shared about the momentous day, Thanksgiving would be this year since it also was the first day of Hanukkah….an event that has happened since 1888 and according to the scholars…not again, some 70,000 years from now.  Doing some research into the history of both events led to a common source…the celebration of God’s enduring love for his people.  So on this day let us be reminded…together those who came on the Mayflower or even earlier those who served with Maccabeus …these words from Cantor Eric Schulmiller

It is the willingness of those who have fought so long for this moment to now pick up a broom or a hoe, to push aside a tiny bit of chaos and hopelessness and begin the difficult everyday work of real life which happens after the battle is won.
