legacy of freedom

three important ladies(in the photo: my bride melinda (r) introduces our first born sarah to lady thatcher during her visit here in ’93) there’s a great little publication that i look forward to getting monthly from hillsdale college called imprimis. even though i’m not all that engaged anymore (as a practioner) in the political realm, i do appreciate those that safeguard the principles of this fragile experiment called “America.” in the most recent issue an old friend john o’sullivan gives gives tributes to one of my heroes: lady margaret thatcher.  i had the rare privilege during my days of practicing the political art to host and spend some time with the former prime minister on many different occasions. though she has stepped off the stage of public speaking…the principles which she spent a lifetime to secure are timeless…truthfully a legacy of freedom.  the whole article is worth the read…but here’s a clip of what o’sullivan offers…

and the lesson of her whole life is: If you don’t try, you won’t succeed; but if you do try, you cannot imagine how successful you might be.
