the ulimate ride – young life

YL Bike logo FA_ex_smit was fun last sunday to join forces with some local folks, including Mitch Weber to do a 100k (62 mile) ride in support of Young Life-Ashland County. Thanks to the great leadership of fellow Rotarian Scott Young and his equally amazing volunteer team about 40 riders set off on either a 25, 50 or 62 mile ride. Proceeds from the ride will be helping to underwrite YL Area Reps Matt and Lauren McClain. It was a beautiful morning.  The ride started at Ashland High School…headed out the back way to Hayesville then south to Loundonville High School.  Had rest stop there at about the 27 mile mark and then headed north, via a couple of nice CAT 5 climbs, through Jeromesville and then out to Paradise Hill before turning back to the High School.  Took me about 4.5 hrs.  Missed the presence of the IJM Freedom Team, but it was fun to ride with some local friends like Rob Ward and John & Lori Maurer.

Excited for what the new school year will bring.  Young Life is part of Melinda and my story during our years in high school…her in Cincinnati and me at Ashland. I’m looking forward to see how we can leverage YL in the community to grow the Kingdom.
