Mitch, Clay and I have made it to Cincinnati. Most of the team arrived during the day Thursday. Going to be spending the next couple of days working on building a deeper sense of team as we prep for the 500 mile journey.
Not too long after our arrival the team circled up and spent the next 90 minutes hearing each other stories. Its humbling and encouraging to hear how each person found out about Venture and the mission of our ride partner IJM
We’re blessed by the hospitality of a great north side church – Real Life Church and pastor Marty Huff. Last night we got a sense of those that call Real Life their spiritual home as they had a gathering. These opportunities are one of the many outcomes of a Venture tour…connecting with the local church and then helping them see how they can leverage their Kingdom engagement. Our tour director, Emily and I had the privilege of hanging out with Pastor Bryan and his bride Brittany and 20 of their students in their student ministry while the rest of the team began a tour briefing. It was a great time of student led worship and then a really fun and an engaging conversation about Venture and our challenging students to think about their place in God’s story and how they can “benefit the world and find their soul”.
Today will be full. A briefing on the work of IJM and more sessions on the practical aspects of riding 500 miles with a team of 25 individuals, changing flats and bike repair 101. stay tuned.
