its history. the outpost’s first conference, thesticks.tv and by all accounts it was successful. i’ll admit i’m in recovery of sorts as i picked up a bug of sorts on the epiphany weekend and it made the past two days a little more difficult that i had wished. but the inpsire sessions were excellent and my four breakouts we’re great too. each day i particapted in session on social media. fellow buckeye blogger todd rhoades of monday morning insight walked us through an overview of the different types of social networking and then we launched off into a discussion about practical applications…i.e. events module in facebook, twitter, and other uses in a web 2.0 world.
on wednesday we beamed our pal tony steward, the Online Community Pastor at lifechurch.tv via skype to lead a conversation working through an overview of social networking. tony then launched off on a primer on how local churches should be thinking about their web presence. he wrapped up his presetantion by introducing the audience to the newest addition to the steward home, luther. luther stole the show.
i led two other breakouts on student ministry. the biggest blessing was the gift of some practical ministry helps from our friends and conference partners, simply youth ministry (thanks andy!). on tuesday dave d’angelo from newpoint walked through the dynamics of their program. it was great conversation and we covered a lot of ground. on wednesday i was flying solo and had an equally great conversation there. in addition to the free software from sym i also passed out a list that josh griffin had compiled with the help from some of us pdym state mentors at the recent pdym gathering…52 links youth workers should check out.
it was fun (some work too!) to be part of the host team for thesticks.tv conference. i had many great conversations with good hearted co-laborers. when its all said and done, relationships are about all that really transcend. glad we could make it a reality.
tim stevens, one of the inspire session speakers has a really good snapshot of the two days over here.
